Why the name YellowMelen?
A little tautology YellowMelen means Yellow Yellow. Melen is the Cornish word for Yellow, which is fortunate as I love yellow. This is in reference to my Cornish father plus my mother's Welsh side. The logo uses the 15 gold bezants from the Cornish shield which is based upon the tale of the ransom of the Duke of Cornwall from the crusades. Onen hag oll!
Phil Richardson
My love of photography started early with my father, a keen amateur photographer, watching him really inspired me as well as teaching me most of the basics although i really regard myself as self taught. Observational photography is my favourite area, photographing images with strong narratives with heavy shadows, and although i am experienced using flashes ambient light is my preferred method.
Over the last 5 years i have been training photographers to improve or to help them become professional too. MelenCourses has taken off really well and we are running over 30 courses a year here at MelenStudios, Ashridge Business School, the National Trust Ashridge Estate, and Berkhamsted School.
